Duebird Privacy Policy
Duebird is an app for tracking subscriptions and recurring bills. This policy explains what happens to the information you put into it.
The short version
Everything you enter stays on your device. Duebird has no account, no server, no ads and no analytics, and it does not request internet access. We do not collect, sell or share your data.
What you enter
You may enter names of subscriptions or bills, amounts, currencies, billing cycles, charge dates, categories, notes and reminder preferences. You can also add optional details: free-trial, start, pause and contract end dates, a payment label (for example a card nickname with its last 4 digits; Duebird refuses full card or account numbers), a web address for managing or cancelling the service, how many people share a plan, and an emoji or color for the item.
Duebird also keeps, on your device:
- the history of price changes you make to an item, so it can show when a price went up;
- a record of when each reminder was delivered, used only by the Reminder check screen and deleted after 60 days.
All of this is stored only in the app's private storage on your device and is never sent anywhere.
Backups
Android backup. If Android backup is turned on for your device, Android may include Duebird's list and settings in your device backup, which is managed by Google under your Google account and governed by Google's privacy policy. You can turn this off in your device's backup settings. Duebird's developer cannot access these backups.
Backup files you save. In Settings → Backup and restore you can save your list, price history and settings to a file. Android's file picker asks where to save it (for example your phone's storage or a cloud drive you use), and the file is then handled by that storage under its own terms. Restoring reads only the file you pick.
Files you export or import
Duebird Pro can export your list as a CSV file. The file is only shared when you choose where to send it from Android's share sheet; once shared, it is handled by the app or person you sent it to. Duebird Pro can also import a CSV file you pick; it is read on your device and not sent anywhere.
Links you open
If you add a link for managing or cancelling a service, or tap "Rate Duebird", it opens in your browser or the Play Store. Duebird itself does not connect to the internet; the website or store you visit has its own privacy policy.
App lock and hidden amounts
App lock uses Android's own fingerprint, face or screen-lock prompt. Duebird never sees or stores your fingerprint, face data, PIN, pattern or password; Android only tells it whether unlocking succeeded. While app lock is on, Duebird also keeps its content out of the recent-apps preview.
"Hide amounts" replaces amounts with dots in the app, the widget and reminders. It changes only what is displayed.
Purchases
Duebird Pro is a one-time in-app purchase processed by Google Play. Google Play handles your payment details under the Google Play Terms of Service and Google's privacy policy. Duebird only receives confirmation from Google Play, on your device, that Pro was purchased. We never see your payment details.
Reviews
Duebird may occasionally show Google Play's in-app review prompt. The prompt and any rating or review you leave are handled by Google Play; Duebird is not told whether you rated it or what you wrote.
Notifications
Duebird uses notifications only to remind you about upcoming charges, free trials and contract end dates you entered. They are created on your device. On a secure lock screen, reminders hide the item's name and amount until you unlock your phone.
Permissions
- Notifications, to show the reminders described above.
- Google Play billing, for the optional Pro purchase.
- Biometric, used only when you turn on app lock.
- Run at startup and keep the device awake briefly, so scheduled reminders survive a restart and can be delivered.
Duebird does not request internet, location, contacts, camera, microphone or storage permissions.
Children
Duebird is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Deleting your data
Delete any item in the app, or uninstall Duebird to remove all of its data from your device. You can also delete the app's Android backup from your Google account settings, and delete any backup or CSV files you saved yourself wherever you stored them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
